Pastor's Thoughts - December 2020
December 2020
A Thought from Pastor Bryson,
The following excerpt is from the book, Jesus Calling: Enjoying Peace in His Presence, by Sarah Young:
{I am the PRINCE OF PEACE. As I said to My disciples, I say also to you: Peace be with you. Since I am your constant Companion, My Peace is steadfastly with you. When you keep your focus on Me, you experience both My Presence and My Peace. Worship Me as King of Kings, Lord of lords, and Prince of Peace / Dec. 2}
The book is written as if Jesus Himself is speaking directly to us. Given that the year 2020 has been so tumultuous, we need to experience the peace of God in our lives. A few notable points to consider from the excerpt:
1. I am your “Constant Companion.” As followers of Jesus, let us not forget that we are never alone as we experience all the ups and downs of life. The Lord, through His Holy Spirit, is right with us, helping us, strengthening us, guiding us. He is with us in the midst of our storms…
2. When you keep your focus on Me. Remember Peter’s struggle when he was for a moment walking on water (Matthew 14:29-30). When Peter allowed the storm to take his focus off Jesus, he began to sink. When we allow our “storms” to take our focus off Jesus, we also begin to sink. We are to run our race looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:1-2). May the Lord grant us the kind of sight where our storms are overshadowed by His presence rather than His presence being overshadowed by our storms.
3. Worship Him as King of King of kings and Lord of lords. Worship keeps Him at the forefront. Worship keeps us in communion with Him. Worships happens as the result of a heart filled with gratitude. In spite of everything, we have so much to be thankful for. Worship will see us through the trials of life.
It has been and still is a challenging year. But let us remember that we are followers of Jesus Christ. This is the Christmas season. Isaiah 9:6 speaks volumes – For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on His shoulders. And He will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Let us continue our faith journey waking in His Presence and experiencing His Peace…
